I bet you’re wondering how I know. We haven’t even met.

I know you’re so great because I work with great people. Of course I don’t know all of the unique and compelling details of you, but here is what I do know:

You are both smart and passionate about what you do. I don’t care if you’re a rocket scientist or a flower child, the nurturing type or a daring agent of change, if you love what you do and put your brains behind that passion, I think we’ll hit it off.

You aren’t too hung up on the rules. I’m all for doing things right, but right is relative. Right is what works for you and for the people you need to reach. Right is real and honest, whatever you can stand behind with pride and say, “yep, that’s mine.”

Brand guidelines, yes. Best practices, yes. But following rules just for the sake of following rules, especially if not your own, is a sure-fire way to strangle life and creativity from your work.

Why? Besides working in these areas with past clients, I like and am inspired by them. I read Eckhart Tolle, Saveur magazine, and the Anthropologie catalog with equal fervor. I also have about a decade of post-graduate health and nutrition studies under my belt.
